Socceroo Carl Valeri has missed the chance to play in Italy's Serie A after Grosseto were beaten by Livorno.

The Serie B play-off that went 4-1 to Livorno was full of drama as four Grosseto players were sent off, leaving them with just seven players for the final 15 minutes.

Valeri came on as a substitute in the 56th minute but could not inspire his side who will now live to fight another day in Italy's second division next season.
