Sunderland defender Valentin Roberge feels he's now proving himself Premier League class.
Roberge admits the English style of play came as something of a culture shock at first, but says he has now adapted.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "It's difficult to adapt to English football.
"The Premier League is different, but at the same time I enjoy it here. I wanted to play in a new country. It was hard at first because the football is a lot faster and you need to concentrate more.
"In the first few months, there was a lot of information and I had to apply myself.
"I have found it hard to get chances because the defence has been performing well."
