French defender Valentin Roberge is set for talks with Sunderland on Wearside this week.

The Evening Chronicle says Roberge's Portuguese club Maritimo confirmed that the 25-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, has been in England - and he has been at the Academy of Light to discuss a move.

The strong centre-back will leave Maritimo at the end of the season and has made it clear that he is keen on a move to England.
