Zarek Valentin has been ruled out for the rest of the Norwegian Tippeligaen season after injuring his Achilles.
The 22-year old American defender tore his left Achilles during training with Bodo/Glimt on Wednesday and will now be sidelined for the remainder of the 2014 campaign which only kicked off at the end of March.
Bodo/Glimt manager Jan Halvor Halvorsen, formerly an assistant with New York Red Bulls, told Avisa Nordland: "He thought someone kicked him down, and that's a bad sign.
"Obviously it is upsetting, but there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to build him up again."
Additionally, former Chivas USA and Montral Impact right-back posted the following on Twitter.
Yes, I tore my Achilles today. Yes, my season is over, but yes I will come back stronger than ever I promise you that. This is my journey

The amount of support, texts & calls I've gotten has been really humbling. I can't express how much I appreciate it. I won't let anyone down
