Valencia midfielder Nacho Gonzalez admits he came close to joining Celtic.

The Uruguayan almost signed for the Hoops on-loan and revealed: "Those last hours (of the market) were crazy. I knew the club would let me leave and I had to find a destination.

"Fernando (Gomez) called me and talked about the possibility of Celtic, but we lacked a formal offer, that ultimately failed.

"That afternoon I was ready to change clubs and, after talking with my family and my agent, I was willing to go to Glasgow, with it's radical climate change and football."
