Valencia matchwinner Javier Arizmendi admits he needed the goal he scored in their victory at Real Madrid last weekend.

Arizmendi said: "I am happy. I wanted to score my first goal, but I am not concerned that it took until this stage of the season to achieve it. But it is one more reason to take confidence from having achieved this goal.

"I am happy it happened and hope that from now many more goals will flow for me. I needed that goal. It gives me joy.

"I wasn't becoming obsessed as I was playing further away from the attack than I am used to. But it was certainly nice to score."
