Valencia midfielder David Albelda is a target for Atletico Madrid.

Albelda is leaving Valencia at the end of the season after a controversial campaign and Atletico sports chief Jesus Garcia Pitarch sees the Spain international as a potential mentor for teenage superkid Ignacio Camacho.

Much will depend on the long-term fitness of Thiago Motta, with Albelda under consideration as a direct replacement for the injury-plagued Brazilian.
