Messi upstaged Villa on Sunday with an amazing hat-trick in Barcelona's 3-0 win.
Villa told Sport, “When the best player in the world has his day, it is difficult to stop him."

do u know anything about football mate.. stop trying to make exuses for rooney,, how can shrek be better than messi , did you watch the game wed night ,, do me a favour watch the game again ,cus u need specsavers pal. u cant judge a player on tackling ,heading and all that english style crap ,, when your considered best player player in the world ,you have to be able to take it past 3 or 4 players do the keeper ,then slap the stantion ,, rooney cant do that ,, yeah hes a hard worker ,hes having a good season but hes not extraordinary, hes scored a lot of goals this year yes ,,but hes only doing it like andy cole or alan shearer did ,, cole got 46 goals in his newcastle days in 1 season,, didnt hear anything about him bieng best in the world ,,, messi scored 31 unbeleivable goals this year ,,rooney scored all headers and deflections.
messi plays in an open league with no defensive organisation. i think 1 goal in 8 games against english clubs says it all. and even that was when we were caught on the break chasing a goal. rooney can head, tackle, pass long or short range. messi has dribbling over rooney but thats it. and like i said thats in a very open league with no proper defences.
