South American football will be brought to New York in August with Ecuador set to face Chile in an international friendly.

South American football will be brought to New York in August with Ecuador set to face Chile in an international friendly.

The 27th-ranked Ecuadorians will take on the 15th-ranked Chileans at Citi Field on August 15 making it a second trip to Flushing in two years for Ecuador who played Greece in July 2011.

The Ecuador team, coached by Reinaldo Rueda, includes Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia, Club America striker Christian Benitez, LDU Quito’s veteran midfielder Edison Mendez and Monterrey defender Walter Ayovi whilst the Claudio Borghi-coached Colombians consist of Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez, Monterrey striker Humberto Suazo and Real Sociedad goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
