New Valencia coach Ronald Koeman won't be on the bench for this weekend's clash with Real Mallorca.
Valencia sports chief Miguel Angel Ruiz confirmed they paid PSV Eindhoven compensation for Koeman and that "negotiations were quick, but difficult".
"He wants to start working as soon as possible," added Ruiz. "He knows he's joining a club that is super competitive and that there's a lot of work to do."
After the shock change of management this week, Ruiz also said: "The club has asked and I will ask the players that they are the ones who have to take this forward. The coach can suggest methods of work, but all this is nothing without a response from the players."
