Valencia legend Mario Kempes has urged his old club not to sell any of their top players.
Fullback Jose Luis Gaya has been linked with Real Madrid.
But Kempes says: "I had no interest in seeing Gayà or any other Valencia player sold for that matter. With the Gayà situation and regarding a move to Real Madrid, I stated that 'any team', not just Real Madrid, who were looking to cover the player's buy-out clause and I felt that it left Valencia in a defenseless position.
"I wouldn't object to young players arriving at the club, developing and after, say, two years moving on, but not getting sold for 20 million or 40 million but for 400 million, covering the buy-out clause and I don't care if the buyer is Madrid or any other major side."
