Fluminense officials have already confirmed their interest in Canizares, who is seeking a release from his Valencia contract after being dumped by coach Ronald Koeman last month.
The Brazilian club are turning to 38 year-old Canizares after dropping talks with Murcia's Uruguayan keeper Fabian Carini.
