Valencia keen to tie down Mata to new deal

Valencia want to secure winger Juan Mata to a new contract.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has been a revelation this season and has broken into coach Vicente del Bosque's Spain squad.

AS says cash-strapped Valencia will put their financial worries to one side in order to sign Mata to a new deal.

The winger's current agreement runs to 2012 and carries a buyout clause of £40 million.
