Wigan Athletic midfielder Antonio Valencia feels at home in the Northwest.

He told the People: "I feel much more at ease at Wigan than I ever did at Villarreal.

"That's strange because the climate and lifestyle in Spain are more similar to Ecuador than England but right from the start I was made to feel at home at Wigan.

"Staying up won't be easy but we have the players to consolidate then to push on to make mid-table.

"It is something you are always aware could happen. My family have to pay attention and be careful when they are out and about."
