Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has jumped to the defence of Manchester United legend Gary Neville.
Neville has been pilloried over his short stint in charge of Valencia.
But former Everton defender Mustafi told fichajes.com: "Neville should not be singled out. Now it is easy to talk of the 'Gary Neville problem'.
"But at the same time, one could say that this is the problem of people who took him there. Perhaps Neville had good ideas, but could not impose them on the team. He was not guilty of our many bad passes. It is difficult to judge who is to blame for our bad season.
"I have great respect for him and his career as a player. However, I feel that the first stage of his coaching career has not been a success and we could not help."
