Valencia coach Ronald Koeman insists he has the full backing of president Juan Soler over his dumping of popular trio Santiago Canizares, David Albelda and Miguel Angel Angulo.

Last week, Soler insisted the reports that the threesome had been axed were a "misunderstanding", however Koeman declared yesterday that the president fully supported his decision.

"We are in complete agreement on this issue," said Koeman.

He went on: "Surely I am now most unpopular with some, but not for others, but it is part of the decision making, if I do not have this power to decide things then I cannot be coach of a big team because there will always be times when you must make such decisions."
