Valencia supremo Fernando Gomez admits Manchester City have made an approach for David Villa. After refusing to rule out the sale of both Villa and teammate David Silva yesterday, Gomez was asked about reports that two City representatives recently were in Spain to talk about the striker.

"Yes, it's true," said Gomez, "but there were no offers made. The president demanded a significant amount and things did not progress."
