Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores has slammed Asier del Horno after selling the defender to Athletic Bilbao last week.

Flores questioned Del Horno's professionalism and his commitment to Valencia: "A coach cannot control a player's mind, you try to explain, to motivate and to demand, but if a player does not want to reach the competitive level necessary to win a position in the first team, then it is their problem.

"If the minimum level of training is not fulfilled, it is difficult to play. He wanted to play, but without putting the work in. That in Valencia is impossible, he had to go to another club."
