Valencia has partnered up with professional and financial services company Deloitte in an effort to bring its long-delayed new stadium project back on course, reports SportBusiness.

Deloitte will serve as a key partner for the revised plans for the Nuevo Mestalla, which have seen a re-design of the stadium as the club seeks to have the facility in place for the 2021-22 season.

Deloitte will have four main responsibilities through the partnership. It will provide guidance on global financing of the operation and the sale of the current Mestalla Stadium site. Deloitte will also supervise the process of finalising the new stadium, along with working on the business plan and sale of service in the venue.

Valencia president Anil Murthy said: "We believe that the real estate market has evolved enough to respond to our objectives. With Valencia CF, Deloitte will lead the global management of this project to meet the deadlines. In parallel, we will continue working with the City Council in the processing of modified licenses. Once we have them we can start with the work."

Gerardo Yagüe, a Deloitte partner responsible for financial advisory services in Comunidad Valenciana and Murcia, added: "From the point of view of both the real estate and financial markets for the sale of the club's land and for the global financing of the project, the markets are at the right moment that should allow the project to be carried out in an orderly manner, giving stability to the club and with long-term project vision."

The club halted work on the stadium in February 2009, two years after breaking ground on the project, due to financial issues.
