Valckx to present Newcastle with PSV shirt in honour of Sir Bobby

Former PSV Eindhoven captain Stan Valckx will present Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton with a PSV shirt to mark the one-year anniversary of Sir Bobby Robson's death before the friendly match between the sides tomorrow.

Valckx was captain of PSV in the early 1990s during their successful spell under Robson, who subsequently managed Newcastle late in his career.

The presentation prior to kick-off at St James' Park will be of a shirt from the 1990/91 season, the year PSV won the first of successive Eredivisie titles.

Valckx said: "It is great that Newcastle United are playing this match against PSV Eindhoven given that he managed both clubs and gave them great times too.

"There was no one more passionate about the game than Bobby. To have him as my manager was inspirational but to have him as a friend for so many years was a privilege."

The shirt will be housed in the Sir Bobby Robson cabinet, situated on Level Two of the Milburn Stand at St James' Park.
