Alisher Usmanov has upped his Arsenal stake to over 15 per cent.

The Guardian says Usmanov made his first significant purchase of additional Arsenal shares yesterday when his investment vehicle Red & White paid £2.6m for just over 0.5% of the club. The purchase, added to the 14.58% stake bought for £75m from David Dein, who is chairman of Red & White, takes Usmanov's total holding above 15%. In line with stock exchange rules confirmation of the deal is expected sometime this week.
