Alisher Usmanov is stepping up takeover plans at Arsenal.

The Uzbeki billionaire will snap up another one per cent of shares in the next few days to increase his stake to 22 per cent, says The Sun.

Usmanov is desperate to win a 25 per cent holding before the club's AGM next month.

That would allow his firm Red & White Holdings to demand boardroom representation.

Arsenal shares are now worth £10,250 EACH.
