LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena suggests that the USA U23 team cannot be judged on one negative result.
Caleb Porter's side were eliminated from 2012 Olympic Games qualifying earlier this week when they conceded a late goal to be held to a 3-3 draw with El Salvador when a victory was required.
It was a heartbreaking result and one that has attracted criticism from some sectors of the US soccer media but former national team boss Arena is not about to hang Porter and his team out to dry.
"I think we don't have any fingers to point anywhere.
"I think the league has done wonders for those kind of players and I think we have a great future in the game. We continue to grow as a country.
"We just can't look at one week in Nashville, Tennessee as a way of judging where we are.""It's a result that no one wanted," Arena told Big Apple Soccer. "I think the world of Caleb Porter. I think he's got an outstanding future.
