USA U20 international Saad signs MLS deal

Promising forward Soony Saad has signed a professional Major League Soccer contract.

The 18-year old former University of Michigan star is now eligible to join a MLS club and will find out where he will end up via a weighted lottery which will go ahead early next week.

'The league uses the lottery mechanism for: 1) players who have completed their college eligibility and sign after the SuperDraft; 2) underclassmen who sign Generation Adidas contracts after the SuperDraft; and 3) players who were previously offered MLS contracts and did not sign.'

The USA U20 international is a highly-rated striker who scored a record 19 goals in 2010 along with Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and the Gatorade Player of the Year.
