USA's Donovan knows importance of LA Galaxy teammate Buddle

USA national team star Landon Donovan rated the importance of his LA Galaxy teammate Edson Buddle who was again on form on the weekend.

Buddle netted twice in the 3-1 win over Australia on Saturday and Donovan, who sees the 29-year old perform this way each week in MLS, said his performance alongside Real Salt Lake's Robbie Findley showed good signs just a week out from the World Cup.

"As I've been saying all year, the goals are great, but what he and Robbie did otherwise are what helps you win games. You need to score goals to win, we understand that, but had they not scored today they still both did a great job of helping our team," he said.

Donovan was also positive towards his other teammates, saying that the overall performance of the team was strong.

"I think we started the game better than we did last week, and that was a big plus. The biggest problems that were caused were just the way the ball flew at times," he added. "It puts your defenders under a lot of pressure. Even balls that are comfortable coming into your defenders are challenging at times, and with crosses and things like that it's very difficult. We're going to have to spend some more time dealing with that, but overall I thought we played very well."
