USA's Bedoya recalls 2014 as a year he will 'never forget'

USA midfielder Alejandro Bedoya looks back on the 2014 year with great fondness.

The 27-year old midfielder represented the US at the World Cup in Brazil as well as becoming one of the key players in the starting line-up for French side Nantes.

In an interview with ussoccer.com, Bedoya was asked what 2014 had meant to him and the 35-time capped international spoke with delight at what he had achieved during the year.

"2014 is a year I will never forget," he said.

"It's been crazy to think that I've been able to solidified myself in Nantes and then be with the National Team and play in the World Cup, which was my dream as a kid.

"Three years ago I wasn't even part of the National Team. Knowing that now all of my hard work and dedication has paid off and my commitment paid off to get to a World Cup, and then playing in it, it's been very special. Few people get the opportunity, so now it's a lot of memories that just motivate me to work even harder in order to get to another one."

Bedoya is in Juergen Klinsmann's squad for Friday's friendly with Colombia in London and next week's meeting with the Republic of Ireland and Dublin and knows his work for 2014 is not quite done from a national team point of view.

"I have two more games, this game against Colombia and then the game against Ireland to prove myself and continue to get better," he added.

"I also have to continue to get a better understanding of some of the new players coming through and be one of the veterans so that I can take on a leadership role with the team."
