Private flights have been arranged by US Soccer for Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey so they can make the Gold Cup quarterfinal against Jamaica. The Washington Post says Fulham attacker Dempsey and LA Galaxy captain Donovan had the special flights laid on after being granted permission to attend family weddings for today.
Donovan will fly from California, Dempsey from Texas. The star duo was given permission by Coach Bob Bradley well before the tournament got underway.
Asked about their absence in the build-up to a crucial match, Bradley said: "We're not concerned. When you are into a tournament like this, the days after a hard game are also regeneration days. Much of our preparation work has been done."
