Robbie Rogers is on the verge of officially becoming a Leeds United player after obtaining a work permit.

The 24-year old USA international forward is set to join the Whites from MLS club Columbus Crew pending an international clearance but it is likely that the transfer will be complete very soon.

"USA international Robbie Rogers has been successfully granted a work permit and will complete the formalities of his switch to Leeds United early next week," read a statement released on the club's official website.

"The player, who will sign an initial 18-month contract with the club retaining a further year's option, played in the behind-closed-doors friendly with Newcastle earlier this week."
