USA has not been asked to step in for World Cup hosting duties - Gulati

US Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati says Brazil will host the 2014 World Cup whilst suggesting the USA has not been asked to fill in for any forthcoming tournaments if need be.

There were concerns that social unrest may force FIFA to move next year's competition away from Brazil but Gulati, a newly elected member of FIFA's Executive Committee, says that is simply not the case.

''Brazil's going to host the World Cup,'' he said.

There are also queries about whether or not Qatar will be capable of hosting the event in 2022 because of severe weather conditions that are expected during their summer.

It has been suggested that the tournament would be moved from June to January but there are also calls for it to be shifted completely with the US in the running to host if that was to occur.

But Gulati allegedly told reporters that nothing of the sort has been forwarded to US Soccer.
