USA bow out of U20 World Cup

The USA has been eliminated from the U20 World Cup in Egypt.

Thomas Rongen's men have bowed out after results in the final group matches did not go their way and it is the first time the US team has failed to make it to at least the final 16 since 1987.

USA needed Czech Republic to defeat Costa Rica by two goals or more to book their place in the next phase but a 3-2 result to the Czechs was not enough as Costa Rica scored five goals overall opposed to USA's four meaning they finished 17th overall, one place shy of progressing.

Team USA recorded one win and two losses in their three group matches and finished third on the Group C table on three points, behind Germany and South Korea and ahead of Cameroon on goal difference.
