Juergen Klinsmann has indicated that he will not wait to see if Landon Donovan wants to return from his self-imposed break.
The 30-year old LA Galaxy star is taking some time away from the game this winter and although club coach Bruce Arena is looking forward to having him back, national team boss Klinsmann is not prepared to sit around and find out if he wants to commit.
"Landon wanted his time," Klinsmann said in an interview in the Wall Street Journal.
"He made certain decisions throughout the last couple of years that are his decisions. I watch that. I evaluate that.
"I could have evaluated him a few times when he was with us, not that many times. I will make the call at the end of the day if he hits into my plans or not."
The German added: "I told him in December he's not part of the Honduras game (World Cup qualifier in February). From his perspective, he's still on his break."
