USA soccer legend Frank Borghi has passed away at the age of 89.
The US Soccer Hall of Fame goalkeeper was involved in the upset World Cup win over England in 1950 and his death leaves just one remaining member of that team - Walter Bahr.
Borghi started his sporting career as a catcher in baseball before trying his luck at soccer and his curiosity in the world game eventuated in him helping his country defeat the highly-rated English side 1-0 in their second group stage fixture in Brazil more than 60 years ago.
St Louis-raised Borghi, who died in his home town, also served in the US military in World War II where he earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
