US fans came in droves and also tuned in to World Cup qualifier

Seattle's CenturyLink Field played host to USA's World Cup qualifying victory over Panama on Tuesday night.

40,847 fans attended the US' 2-0 triumph and the popularity of that particular game did not stop there with Nielsen Media recording solid viewing ratings from those who watched from home around the country.

The ESPN coverage was the 'second most-watched and second highest-rated World Cup qualifying or international friendly game telecast'. According to Nielsen, the match was seen by 1.4 million viewers nationally and close to 900,000 households.

The March 26 meeting with arch rivals Mexico, viewed by 1.6 million Americans, only edged the Panama victory.
