US boss Klinsmann told me to stick with MLS - LA's Gonzalez

Omar Gonzalez has revealed that a conversation with USA national team boss Juergen Klinsmann helped convince him to remain with the LA Galaxy.

The highly-rated 24-year old centre-back could possibly test himself in Europe or Mexico but has decided to sign a Designated Player deal with the MLS champions at the behest of Klinsmann.

"He basically told me he thinks it's fine that I stay here in MLS, and hearing him say that really put my mind at ease and really made it easier for me to make this decision," Gonzalez said Thursday at his press conference.

"I really wanted to know what his thoughts were, because I was already thinking maybe I wanted to stay here with the Galaxy, and to hear him validate it and say it's fine if you stay for a couple of years, but at some point you should go to Europe, you should see what that's like to test yourself. I think I agree with him, but, you know, I decided to stay, and I'm happy with my decision."
