Jozy Altidore has finally broken his Premier League duck by netting his first league goal for Sunderland in their eventual 4-3 loss to Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The 24-year old USA international had scored in a Capital One Cup fixture in August but had to wait 12 matches before opening his account in England's top flight.
On 14 minutes at the Stadium of Light, Andrea Dossena's free-kick was kept out by the Blues defence but the rebound fell to Jack Colback who knocked it back inside the box for Altidore.
The former AZ Alkmaar star produced a neat first touch under pressure from John Terry, before turning and firing past Petr Cech with a low left-footed drive.
The goal gave the Black Cats an early lead but they succumbed to the wizardry of Eden Hazard, who scored a brace and provided an assist, and in the end were beaten by Jose Mourinho's Blues to remain bottom of the Premier League table.
