Uruguay FA president Bauza: Liverpool's Suarez better for controversy

Uruguay Football Association president Sebastian Bauza believes the controversy around Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will make him a better player.

The AUF have revealed the 26-year-old will not face any action from FIFA for an alleged punch on West Brom's Gonzalo Jara during a World Cup qualifier against Chile in March.

Suarez is currently serving a 10-match domestic ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, but Bauza believes the FIFA investigation will ultimately be beneficial to the player.

"It's very good news for Luis, the national team and for the whole group," said Bauza.

"We understand that, from now on, Luis should realise that he will be watched from all sides.

"We hope that this experience, when added to others, will be useful so that he becomes the player we all want him to be, because we have no doubt of his quality as a footballer and a human being."
