Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has jumped to the defence of Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.
Suarez has battled for consistency this season.
But Tabarez insists: "Any football player, and not just goalscorers or strikers, have emotional and psychological interference from their personal life.
"Luis is a guy who has managed to break many records and has won prizes for his goalscoring ability.
"Why at some point can you not have a game where you don't perform as well?
"Sometimes things go downhill and that worries the player himself.
"You can then enter a vicious cycle which it is tough to break out of but it doesn't mean that you won't soon get back to your best."
"Suarez is a very important player for the national team and has already shown signs of overcoming [his problems].
"Something similar happened at the World Cup in Brazil.
"Although I can't give him security, my expectation is that he's in a good position to contribute."
