Urawa Reds leapfrog to top in Japan

Urawa Reds have jumped to the top of the J-League table with a 3-0 home win over Kawasaki Frontale on the weekend.

The Reds were served well by Hajime Hosogai and Japan international Tatsuya Tanaka who scored inside the opening ten minutes before Satoshi Horinouchi added a third with just over twenty minutes remaining allowing his side to go to first position on the table, overtaking Shimizu S-Pulse who drew 1-1 with Gamba Osaka.

Elsewhere in Japan, Vissel Kobe defeated Vegalta Sendai 1-0 away, Yokohama Marinos won at Montedio Yamagata 1-0, Nagoya Grampus and Albirex Niigata drew 1-1, as did Tokyo and Kyoto Sanga.

Jubilo Iwata scored a second-half equaliser to draw 1-1 with Omiya Ardija, Kashima Antlers and Sanfrecce Hiroshima had a scoreless draw as Shinji Kagawa converted twice from the penalty spot to help Cerezo Osaka to a 2-1 win over Shonan Bellmare.
