West Ham United captain Matthew Upson apologised to away fans after their 5-0 thrashing at Newcastle United.
Upson admitted the Hammers had been a distant second-best at St James' Park and said 'Sorry' to each and every fan who made the long round-trip to the North East on Wednesday evening.
He told whufc.com: "I can only apologise for the display. Again, it was a fantastic effort from the supporters who came to watch and we didn't do them justice and that's a shame. We need to improve and keep them coming away from home.
"They've been great all season and we will be back on it in the next game."
