Under-fire Ranieri highlights importance of Leicester FA Cup win

Claudio Ranieri was delighted with how his Leicester City players reacted on Wednesday night.

The Foxes have been hammered pillar to post in the press for their recent failures in the Premier League but bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Midlands rivals Derby County in the fourth-round replay in the FA Cup.

The win pleased Ranieri who says it is now vital for his side to focus on righting the wrongs that have crept up in their title defence of late.

"It's important now to keep going, not to think about tonight's goals," Ranieri told lcfc.com.

"It was important to see how new players played. Often we play at the training ground, but it's another thing to play in the FA cup against Derby. They played face to face and we scored more than them.

"For me it (the win) is important for Leicester. When I speak, I speak for Leicester. It's very important this victory and to go through in the cup. It gives us confidence. It was a difficult match. When we scored, we played better. Then we scored again and we kept the ball well.

"I want to say thank you to our fans because they supported a lot our players and we won. They were important for us tonight.

"It was good to see the players who haven't been involved so much play well and play with personality. [Bartosz] Kapustka played well. [Yohan] Benalouane and [Marcin] Wasilewski were good."
