Talk of a bust-up between Arsenal boss Unai Emery and Mesut Ozil came via a Brazilian source, it has been revealed.

After victory over West Ham, Unai Emery insisted Ozil missed the game due a cold, amid reports the German was dropped following a heated row with the Arsenal manager.

Ozil - who was hugely ineffective during the defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea - was absent from training yesterday.

According to ESPN journalist Joao Castelo-Branco, the German World Cup winner was axed from the Arsenal team after being involved in a training ground argument.

He tweeted: "Ozil had an argument with coach Emery in training this week, came out screaming and is cut off today.

"Information from more than one source linked to the club."

It's suggested Emery planned to put Ozil on the bench for the game but when Ozil discovered he had been cut from the starting XI he made himself unavailable, reports The Sun.

Castelo-Branco also stated: "Ozil update: I hear he's not I'll.

"After training row, apparently Ozil would have been on the bench today, but when he found out the team, he decided not to be at the game."
