Unconvincing Liverpool grab the points

Liverpool battled to a 2-0 win over ten-man Wolves at Anfield in a less than convincing display. The Reds again struggled to perform but were handed a lifeline with controversial sending off of Stephen Ward for two yellow cards early in the second half.

Referee Andre Marriner showed the defender a second yellow card - but only after being surrounded by Liverpool players for incorrectly cautioning Christophe Berra.

Two goals in the space of eight minutes then followed. The first a bullet header from Steven Gerrard, to be closely followed by a deflected effort from Yossi Benayoun.

Up to the dismissal Wolves had more than matched their opponents but once the numerical advantage passed to the hosts there was only one winner.
