Former LA Galaxy defender Michael Umana and Mexican league veteran Emilio Hassan are on trial with Chivas USA.
27-year old Costa Rica international Umana returned to his homeland after his season-long stint with the Galaxy and most recently has played with CS Herdiano then Liberia Mia in the Costa Rican league.
32-year old Hassan has spent his entire career in Mexico, beginning with Toluca in 1999 before moving onto Necaxa and then Cruz Azul.
Reports suggest that the pair are very close to being signed by Chivas but new coach Martin Vasquez was non-committal on which of the trialists he would offer contract to.
Right now we have players from the draft, collegiate ranks, International players that we have invited, as well as local players...we will find the players we need for 2010 from that pool," he said.
