UEFA will look to punish Manchester United for the failure to fulfil their post-match media obligations on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Real Madrid (3-2 on aggregate) in controversial circumstances after Nani was shown a very doubtful red card in the second half at Old Trafford, infuriating Sir Alex Ferguson, who then did not show up for the after-match press conference.
Assistant manager Mike Phelan attended and said Ferguson was too 'distraught' to talk to the media whilst all United players waived their mixed zone duties and UEFA will now look into the situation whilst backing referee Cuneyt Cakir who brandished the red.
"The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Thursday 21 March," a UEFA statement read.
"There are no issues for us regarding the sending off," added a UEFA spokesman.
