Udinese president feels for D'Agostino over failed Juventus talks

Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo has sympathy for Gaetano D'Agostino as talks with Juventus appear on the brink of collapse.

"I am sorry for the guy because I know how much he wants to join Juventus but I cannot give him to them as a gift," said the patron.

"At this stage negotiations are over because they do not the rate the player as highly as they should. I thought he was going to go there but when I heard they were going to offer only £7-8m I understood it wasn't going well…

"We wanted £17m cash or an exchange deal but we don't have a definite price tag. If he was playing for one of the top clubs his price would be double."

Pozzo also revealed that Premiership offers had arrived for the Italy midfielder.

"If the deal with Juve was over then we would wait for something better to come along. We received plenty of offers - one from England and another one from a big Italian club.

"Still anything is possible. The transfer window just opened, even the Bianconeri could come back for Gaetano, although I doubt it.

"In order to join them he would have to be willing to lower his wage demands. It's not fair of them to take advantage of this though. This is not about a million or two, the difference between the demand and the offer is way too big," he added.
