Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler is a target for Liverpool.
Reds boss Roy Hodgson knows Inler well from his time involved with the Switzerland FA and sees the midfielder as a replacement for Barcelona bound Javier Mascherano.
Udinese rate Inler at £15 million and Hodgson said: "We need to improve the squad and haven't got too much time.
"Mascherano's exit means we're losing another and not bringing too many in, so the situation's not good in that respect."
