Udinese youngster Silvan Widmer insists Serie A clubs DO give youth a chance.

The Swiss Under-21 international played his first top-flight match at the weekend against Inter Milan.

“It's good to play,” the defender said. “It makes you feel the confidence from the Coach. Each and every minute is important for a young player so I hope I can play more in the upcoming matches.

“The young players work hard every day to have a chance of featuring in the team. The Coach decides who should play, but I think that every one of us will always do his best.

“There are a lot of us and we work hard every day. I have finally played and it is a good thing for the others too because they see it is possible to get games and be given a chance.”
