Venezuelan goalkeeper Rafael Romo has signed for Udinese ahead of Manchester City.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper is already a full international and caught the eye of several talent scouts when he featured in the Under-20 South American Championships.
Manchester City and Genoa had sent their emissaries to watch the youngster, but Udinese have won the race to sign him.
No figures were released, but it is believed he put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
