Udinese chief Fabrizio Larini has confirmed Liverpool's interest in Gokhan Inler.

The Switzerland midfielder admitted Liverpool were keen on the player during the summer.

And Larini said last night: "His name never seems far from the transfer rumours. For Inler there was involvement from a couple of big clubs, including foreigners. But it was talk only."

Udine sources say the foreign clubs involved were Liverpool and Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg.
