Nigerian youngster Uche Nwofor admits he turned down Chelsea to sign with VVV Venlo.

Nwofor says he chose Venlo as he felt he had a better chance of establishing himself after moving from his homeland.

He told Voetbal International. "Chelsea wanted to talk to me, Benfica was very concrete and I could have gone to Ajax according to a contact. But now I want to first develop at VVV, this is a good stepping stone.

"If I do well, then the big clubs will return."
